- Molecular Biology Laboratory- A step ahead at KEM, Vadu.

Vadu Rural Health Program, a Division of KEM Hospital (Research Centre) Pune, has established a laboratory dedicated for molecular biology techniques in Feb 2011. This state of art laboratory was inaugurated by the hands of Dr. V.S. Padbidri, Director KEMHRC, Pune on 3rd Feb 2011. Dr. Sanjay Juvekar, Dr. Shivaji Karad, and staff of KEM, Vadu were present for the ceremony.

This Level II laboratory designed to process human blood and various other samples for DNA and RNA isolation comprises of equipments like Bio safety cabinet, cooling centrifuge, electrophoresis apparatus, UV transilluminator, ultra-purification system for water etc. The laboratory aims to grow and give best outcomes to the projects carried out in the laboratory with the plans to create landmarks in the area of population genetics.

- The study on Global Ageing (SAGE) supported by the WHO was completed in the HDSS area.
- A Departmemnt of Biotechnology, New Delhi, Govt. Of India supported study on Iron Fortification of atta started in July 2007.
- A WHO supported Menigococal Vaccine trial initiated in August 2007.
- A new sprinkles plus project funded by Hellen Keller International has been launched in December 2007.
