Vadu Rural Health Program

The team of Vadu Rural Health Program was enchanted by a visit by Director General, CSIR, Dr. Samir K Brahmachari on 4th Feb 2012. He was accompanied by Dr. V.S. Padbidri- Director, KEMHRC and Director, NCL, Dr. Sourav Pal. The purpose of this visit was to review the capacities and strength of Vadu.

His visit started from Perne village- one of the study villages under Vadu HDSS, where he observed various field level activities conducted and ongoing by VRHP. This included the indoor air pollution monitoring unit, electronic data entry on field for HDSS data collection, GPS data collection and spirometery all conducted by field research assistants (FRAs) . He interacted with the FRAs and the villagers.

He then arrived at the VRHP campus in Vadu Village and visited the Shirdi Sai Baba Rural Hospital, Core Vaccine Research Unit, Ayurgenomics unit, Molecular biology and research laboratories, archival facilities etc. Dr. Juvekar and Dr. Bavadekar informed him about various activities ongoing at VRHP through their PowerPoint presentations. Mrs. Pallavi and Ms. Veena presented on IDBI study and WebGIS respectively. Many other researchers from VRHP were present during these interactions.

This gathering was concluded by a small memento presentation by Dr. Padbidri to Dr. Brahmachari. The visit was fruitful in terms of many suggestions and help extended by Dr. Brahamchari to Vadu Rural Health Program.
